Long-term monitoring at the Nature Center


Project Description and Goals:
The Tacoma Nature Center has three distinct habitats; the medium-developed Center area, deciduous wetland, and a deciduous/conifer forest. Changes are taking place in the eastern part of the park due to the expansion of Highway 16. Students and families visit the Center throughout the year.

Goals:

  • Involve the visiting schools in monitoring the three different habitats.
  • Conduct NatureMapping workshops and allow teachers to use the Center for their monitoring projects
  • Monitor the before and after conditions of the area modified by construction.
