Breeding Range Map
The green area shows the predicted habitats for breeding only. The habitats were identified using 1991 satellite imagery, Breeding Bird Atlas (BBA), other datasets and experts throughout the state, as part of the Washington Gap Analysis Project. Habitats used during non-breeding months and migratory rest-stops were not mapped.

Habitat

The Common Raven is a common breeder throughout the state. It can be found in every habitat except major metropolitan areas and high elevation glaciers and snow fields.

Good habitats in core zones included all habitats except development and ice in all zones below the Permanent Ice/Snow zone. The Raven is excluded by range limits from the developed Everett-to-Olympia corridor and the Vancouver area.

The Common Raven is one of the most widespread birds in the state. Ravens can survive equally well in dense forests, alpine parkland, and sagebrush areas, though they are rare or absent in most cities (though apparently now breeding in Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC).
