Found in all conifer and mixed forests within their range. Present in several cities, including, Seattle, Tacoma, and Walla Walla.

All forested zones were core; peripheral in steppe and Alpine/Parkland. Good habitat was low-density development, fresh water/wetlands, and all forests.
