Metadata (Data about data or how the map was made)

This mouse is most frequently found in association with sagebrush and dry grasslands in both closed cover (tall sagebrush) and more open sites. May require loose, sandy soil for frequent dust bathing. Records are sparse probably because it is difficult to trap and count.

Three steppe zones, Central Arid Steppe, Canyon Grassland, and Wheatgrass/Fescue zones are core areas. Non-forested habitats were good, except tree savanna which was adequate. Most records are old and may be obsolete due to more recent plowing of the habitats.
