Metadata (Data about data or how the map was made)

Very similar habitat requirements to the Western Jumping Mouse but found west of the steppe zones. Won't be found in dry areas. Probably to be found in 90% of the townships west of the Cascades crest except not in San Juans or most of the islands in Puget Sound from Whidbey north. Generally found in coniferous and hardwood forests, moist meadows, marshes and shrubby stream borders from sea level to the lower alpine zones.

Core zones include all but the driest forest zones west of the steppe. Good habitats in the core zones include water/wetlands, non-forested and forested (except not in non-forested areas in the Douglas-Fir zone).
