Idaho Wolf Tracking
The development of NatureTracker began in 2001 using an advanced
wildlife tracking data collection sequence developed by Jon Young. A
decision to keep track measurements and behavior in Nature Tracker was
made during the 2001 and 2002 wolf tracking trips sponsored by the
Wilderness Awareness School.
A total of 39 trackers recorded 2,750 wolf sign records over a 4-day
period in 2002 illustrating the effectiveness of documenting wildlife
movement if focused on one species. These capabilities are included in
the NatureTracker sequence.
The green points are base camp, red points were a specific study
conducted by one person, and the black points are records of wolf
tracks, scat, or sightings.
