Little River Boy

Riparian Habitat

Little River Boy is on his way through the riparian habitat. He passes a beaver making her dam. Still farther on he spots a mallard duck and his wife and children. All of a sudden a raccoon came, pawed at him, picked him up and started toward the forest.

While he was carried in to the raccoon's house, Little River Boy saw many quaking aspen in their beautiful quaking mood. Little River Boy went past many more quaking aspen, but the most beautiful was the one with the fluttering leaves.

chickadee "Ow!" exclaimed Little River Boy. "Stop digging your claws into me! That hurts almost as bad as falling off the waterfall." Then something caught his eyes. What could it be? It wasn't a plane. It suddenly swooped down. Ah yes, a black-capped chickadee. Oh it was beautiful! The song sung something like "Chickadeedeedee." Sadly, it flew away.

Once the raccoon finally got home he took Little River Boy to his family. They thought that he was wood. The raccoon set out again to throw the piece of wood back because it wasn't appetizing. On he flows down the river.
