Zebra Mussels
Dreissena polymorpha
This is a close-up of a clump of zebra mussels

Zebra mussels colonies covering pipes.

There is no way to eliminate the mollusk in these water bodies without harming other life forms..

We must identify any new invasions before they become rampant. Zebra mussels were found on a boat being towed to Canada (summer, 2000).
Please report any suspected sightings to Scott Smith or Pamela Meacham, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, (360) 902-2741, meachpmm@dfw.wa.gov.
