Key Characteristics:

• Count the pairs of leaflets. Eurasian watermilfoil generally has twelve or more pairs.
• The leaves of Eurasian watermilfoil tend to collapse around the stem when removed from the water--native species are generally more robust.
• Eurasian watermilfoil leaflets occur in whorls of four around the stem.
