Northwest Trek Wildlife Park has 721 acres of diverse habitat including
forests, wetlands, meadows, and lightly developed areas. Included in
this property is a 100-acre parcel dedicated to conservation projects.
This parcel, along with the Park's Nature Trails and other undeveloped
areas are ideal sites for data collection and monitoring projects.
- Ohop Valley Monitoring Project (2008 - )
NatureMapping provides an opportunity for citizens to observe, monitor, and
inventory wildlife and their habitats. Data collected during this fieldtrip will be
used by the South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group, the Nisqually
Tribe and its partners to evaluate their efforts to create suitable habitat for
native wildlife. The SPSSEG will be redirecting the Ohop Valley Creek, which
has been converted into an irrigation ditch, back to its original meandering
pathway through the Ohop Valley.
